(she, her)
Access Planner

Emma joined KMA as an Access Planner in 2022 after graduating from architecture school. As a student, her interest in the small changes that occur as individuals age led Emma to study accessibility and inclusive design, which then led her to KMA. She appreciates the dynamic nature of her role, which primarily consists of traveling throughout the US performing construction walks for multifamily developments. When not on the road, she’s busy completing plan reviews.

One of many local graduates at KMA, Emma received her Master of Architecture from Northeastern University. While a graduate student there, she worked in MIT’s Office of Campus Planning, completing existing-conditions assessments and analysis as part of a campus-wide effort to change gender-specific toilet rooms to all-gender. That experience and the methods it required gave her a taste for KMA’s work and motivated her to apply to the firm.

Emma has played ultimate frisbee competitively for over a decade, starting as an undergraduate at Temple University and even captaining Portland Rising, a professional women’s team based in Portland, ME, from 2021 – 2023. This “hobby” adds even more travel to her already busy schedule, but when she is back in Boston she can usually be found biking around the city or spending time at home with her cat, Basil.
