Construction has recently finished on KMA’s latest residential renovation, a cross-gabled Victorian in Melrose, MA. The project included subtracting an incompatible addition and deck (a former dentist’s office) from the front of the house and replacing them with two new outdoor elements: a semi-enclosed porch with period details and a modern deck, mahogany screen wall, and patio. Interior renovations also included a new master bathroom and an opening up of the formal living room to the new semi-enclosed porch. The goal of the project was to restore the original grandeur of the front view of the house, to bring better air and light into the living areas, and to create private, functional outdoor space for the family of four.
