A Boston teaching hospital of Harvard Medical School, Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center is renowned for excellence in patient care, biomedical research, teaching and community service. Located in the heart of Boston's Longwood Medical and Academic Area, it hosts more than three quarters of a million patient visits annually in and around Boston.

Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center selected Kessler McGuiness & Associates to help develop and implement an ADA Settlement Agreement with the U.S. Department of Justice that would expand accessibility in the center’s 26 facilities in three cities. 

The ADA Access Master Plan details a four-year architectural barrier removal initiative based on ADA design standards as well as functional impact for patients, visitors, and staff with a range of disabilities.  In addition to access audits and barrier removal plans for its 26 facilities, KMA is also:

  • Developing online ADA Job Aids for Facilities and Maintenance personnel to ensure ongoing understanding of access issues. 
  • Supporting the development and work of the Universal Access Advisory Council to expand patient and staff input about ongoing accessibility issues.
  • Providing support to Facilities personnel as they package and implement ADA barrier removal projects.
